2 GENERAL INFORMATION
2.1. STUDENTS WHO CAN ATTEND
The “50-hr English” courses, which aim toimprove English Language skills, will start from the 28th of October for all the Master's students of the School of Science and for Bachelor students enrolled in Biology of Human and Environmental Health and Earth and Climate Dynamics. The "50-hr English" courses can be attended by students of almost all the Degree Programmes of the Departments within the School of Science (with the exception of students enrolled in the Master's degree programmes in Informatica, Computer Science, Cybersecurity - see paragraph 3). Moreover, attendance is allowed to students enrolled in Master's degree programmes for which English activity can be included in the study plan, and also to students enrolled in other Master's degree programmes (*) that do not include such activities in their study plan. In the latter case, it is possible to attend the 50-hr English courses to improve English skills, and it is possible to obtain the certificate and have the activity recorded in the academic booklet (outside of the study plan) with 2 CFU (University Credits). The lists can be consulted in paragraph 5.2.
2.2. TERMS AND DURATION OF 50-HR ENGLISH COURSES
The 50-hr English courses, with 40 hours of teaching, are free of charge, and include a final exam. The courses will be held in different classrooms made available by the Departments. Students enrolled in the Master’s degree programme of Marine Biology and other students with valid reasons can attend the lectures online, but they are kindly invited to write an email to scienze@unipd.it.
2.3. FINAL EXAM
In order to sign up for the final exam students must have been present at 75% of the lessons (based on signatures). The exam consists of two parts, a written test and an oral test, taking place on two different days.

The oral test makes use of the same range and, in addition to assessing grammar, lexical and content skills, it also evaluates to interactive skills. The final mark is an average of both the written and oral tests which must not be less than 3 in order to consider the exam as passed. In case of failure, all the parts must be taken again during the next available session.
2.4 LANGUAGE QUALIFICATION, CFU, CERTIFICATE
These courses are freeof charge, they are held by native speakerteachers, and, in addition to language qualification and CFU (i.e., University Credits) (see in pargraph 5.2) they offer the opportunity to obtain an English B2 productive skills certificate (reading, listening, writing and speaking), issued by the School of Science, which is recognized by Italian Universities and in the the job market. The English B2 productive skills level is more valuable than the B2 receptive listening and reading skills (required for accessing many Master's degree programmes).
3. Students of Master's degree programmes in: INFORMATICA, COMPUTER SCIENCE, CYBERSECURITY
3 STUDENTS OF MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMMES IN INFORMATICA, MASTERS DEGREES IN COMPUTER SCIENCE, MASTERS DEGREES IN CYBERSECURITY - courses provided by the CLA office
3.1. Students from Master's degree programmes in Informatics andMasters degrees in Computer Science, in order to obtain 3 CFU (University Credits), must pass the TAL B2 speaking computer based (cb) exam held by the CLA (University Language Centre).
Once the test is passed, the language qualification required (English Language B2- Productive Skills) will be registered, and an Open Badge for B2 speaking will be issued by the CLA.
In this page it is possible to find the dates for the TAL B2 a.y. 2024/2025 by selecting the dedicated option (TEST B2 > VIEW ALL SESSIONS TAL B2 a.y. 2024/25).
To prepare for the test, students can also enroll and participate in one of the CLA courses: https://cla.unipd.it/attivita/corsi/corso-tal-b2-speaking/.
If a student already has a B2 productive skills certificate or higher, he or she can apply for recognition of their eligibility, see this page below.
3.2. Students enrolled Master's degrees in Cybersecurity are OBLIGED to obtain the language qualification (English Language B2 - Productive Skills) by passing the test TAL B2 speaking computer based (cb), held by the CLA, in either the 1st or 2nd semester, in order to obtain the language qualification.
In this page it is possible to find the dates for the TAL B2 a.y. 2024/2025 by selecting the dedicated option (TEST B2 > VIEW ALL SESSIONS TAL B2 a.y. 2024/25).
